One of the final portraits taken of José Julio Sarria, (December 12th 1922 – August 19th 2013). This image was captured on February 22nd 2013, taken at one of her favorite places at one of her favorite events – Twin Peaks Bar in Castro, San Francisco at the annual Empresses’ Tea.
Just a few months later in August, she passed away peacefully after a brave fight with cancer. I feel very honored to have met her on several occasions and always enjoyed being around her. She was always so outrageously funny.
